    I think he might do what he does in Arkham Asylum when he falls from a great height.
    He sweeps his cape or something to soften his landing, kinda hard to explain..

    It's basically deploying the glider cape at the last possible second. Also, isn't diving straight to the ground the divebomb move? In which case he hits the ground and any nearby enemies recoil in fear. It's either the last minute cape or the fear shockwave. In any case I don't think Batman will hurt himself because the player decided to dive 10 stories.
