What Rocksteady should have done: Multiplayer

After reading a more recent thread, I had this idea Rocksteady should have done. Since there were various gangs in Arkham City, there could have been multiplayer.

    Teams/Boss:

The teams are Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Tyger, Blackgate Prisoners and the Medical Team. Each team has a boss. The player to become the boss is selected at random. The player who kills the boss gets a bonus. The bosses are Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Hugo Strange (Tyger), Aron Cash (Medical Team) and Ventriloquist/Scarface or Calendar Man (Blackgate Prisoners). Each boss carries an unique weapon which can be picked up if player kills boss.

    Game modes:

Team Deathmatch - The team that gets the nessessary amount kills under the time limit wins the round.
Search and Destroy - Team deathmatch with no respawns.
Jammer - Team deathmatch but one team needs to destroy the enemy jammer and then activate their own jammer to be able to the end one round. The next round it is the enemy's turn to exactly that.
Free for all - Every man for himself.
Gun game - Guns cycle with every kill. First one to cycle through all guns wins.
    Mano-o-mano - 1v1. Boss versus boss.
Alliance - 2v2. Two bosses versus two other bosses.
WW3 - 3v3. Three bosses versus three other bosses.
Extra - Kill The Bat! - First one to kill Batman becomes the Bat. Batman is fully upgraded which means you have be careful. The person to first kill Batman, becomes Batman immediately.
Extra - Kill The Cat! - First one to kill Catwoman becomes the Cat. Catwoman is fully upgraded which means you have be careful. The person to first kill Catwoman, becomes Catwoman immediately.

    Customization:

Every weapon available to the inmates in Arkham City, are available to the players. You can customize your weapons (assault/secondary) and lethal grenades. Once you level up, you can unlock armor and thermal vision gear (can be switched on and off, close proximity only) for extra gadgets. You can also customize the inmate you are playing as. Every level you play as for a specific team, you unlock new clothes, badges, etc. You can also customize the camo of your inmate's clothes and weapons. You can create your own emblem and title for your name.

    Perks:

You can also unlock perks, such as Punch (more powerful melee attack), Tech (carry two gadgets at the same time), Ammo (carry extra ammo for every weapon), Flash (run faster) and Stealth (no one can hear you).

I hope this interests everyone on the forum as well as Rocksteady, because this way people that like Shooters more than Action/Adventure game could get attracted to this. Thank you!

I don't wanna just **** on your idea. It's a novel idea and interesting but this game was designed as a single-player experience and I'm glad that development focused on making it one of the best. Also glad they didn't tack on a rushed multi-player mode simply to claim that there was one included.

If I can throw one more thing out there now that I'm here: We really don't need anymore multi-player shooters. I mean if anything people who are hardcore shooter fans have an abundance of games to play already.

Actually I was just throwing my opinion out there. Too me it would seem fun, too you not so much. I respect that. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to video games. I like shooters and action/adventure games. How about you?

I respect your opinion, but I have to agree that a multi-player would actually detract from the game, for simple monetary concerns. First and foremost, how much would you pay for a game? I've seen lists pf prices on Arkham City ranging from $10 used to $40 new, and that's for one, single, complete single-player game. Combine that with the DLC and assorted "collectible" editions and you could go as high as $70 or higher. Great value, sure, and excellent potential for replay, but adding a multi-player option would either make that really awful, or detract from the game in general.

Sure, I'm not saying anyone lost money over AC, obviously, but it ultimately is a question of budget and where that would go to the best use. Considering that for this class of game, development costs run between 18 and 30 million dollars (and these are games without celebrity voices like Hamill and Conroy plus celebrity writers like Paul Dini), that means Rocksteady already has to sell over a million to see a profit in the first place. A million units sold is small potatoes, sure, considering it sold about six million in it's first week, but those numbers do add up.

Again, I'm not saying there aren't any really good multiplayer games that manage to pull this off, but I also don't think it was a mistake for Rocksteady to concentrate on an amazing, re-playable single player experience rather than spread the same budget around, or demand a much higher price for the final product.

I also think it is what it is, apples and oranges.

Thank you! Maybe somebody or a team could make a mode. Recently I saw there was a mod for Just Cause 2, multiplayer with over 200 people in one server. Chaos but awesome! I know in Batman if there was a mode that would screw up the game!

I would like to have a co-op mode, like some predator maps with both Batman and Robin (or Catwoman/Robin, Batman/Nightwing, Catwoman/Nightwing and Batman/Catwoman).

How is that going to work? Splitscreen? Online?
