Well these are all very different to AC, I can see why he wouldn't like its 'genre'.
If he didn't like it, you might not be able to make him, but if he's never played either games or has no idea how to, he's probably being dumb or trying to annoy you. And anyway, he's not that good a friend if he's permanently talking smack about your choice of games.

My choice is actually very similiar to his choices. Its just those 2 games Arkham asylum and arkham city.

Are you kidding most gamer fans and not really batman fans love these games cause of the combat and stealth...
Most of my friends love the gameplay but aren't fan of "these figures" how they call the villains.
They want a year one like game with Falcone/Maroni but i don't, i'm more of a guy who think both should be
in the next game. Look at the long halloween it's a top comic series and it's like godfather combined with villains.

The stealth combat is my favorite part of the game (nothing better than the batcave challenge map as either batman or catwoman!), but the combat can be interesting when using all of the moves and gadgets with variations.

I wasn't interested in either AA or AC at all but decided to try AA for the hell of it. It is very immersive and addicting; definitely GOTY stuff. AC was just bigger and better but I am gladd I started with AA.

If it's any consolation, I think the button mashing is there (in part) to give novices and old-timers (like me) a chance to enjoy the game play without getting too frustrated.

Yeah, I just don't know why he hates this game so much :/

not everyone likes this game, it's subjective. nothing wrong with that, but it's true that some people love to say and assume things without much else to back it up. your friend seems to be another person who says the batman games are button mashers, all you have to do is tell him that he sucks at the game. why? because people that think it's a button mashing game are the worst players, they're the ones who get like 4x combo counts maximum and have no idea how to score or master the freeflow system. what you do is let him play a challenge map, look up his score on the leaderboard and laugh in his face when he's like rank 75899 or something. Then tell him, if the game is so easy why are so many people better than you? and then continue to laugh in his face and tell him your grandmother could do better. Keke. :P

The old Blizzard saying applies to combat in Arkham City: easy to learn, hard to master. You can start mashing the attack button but when you're faced with more difficult enemy configurations thugs are going to kick your **** on normal or hard difficulty if you don't know what you are doing. That said the game is not the hardest title there is but the games your friend plays are fairly easy as well.

To me the difficult thing is to do perfect and varied combat encounters, I always try to incorporate as many special moves and gadgets I can and to make that work you need some practice, also the combat system is very intuitive in the way you have to react to certain scenarios pretty fast. A well placed move or gadget can make your life much easier in Arkham City.

Stealth situations require some patiance and planning to do right, if you start using gadgets for fun without keeping an eye on your surroundings you die pretty fast.

And if nothing can persuade your friend just show him the list of moves from the upgrades screen.

Lol this I can do, I probobly WILL tell him this xD. It is a simple system yes but you can't go through hordes of thugs with it. Thats what he just doesn't get -__-

I can accept the fact that it's just not a game for him but he litterally HATES this game. I have never been a good debater he on the other hand constantly owns me. Guys I need your help. It's getting annoying whenever I'm playing and he says " Button Mashing wow, how fun -__- " he even said the stealth is button mashing because you have a gadget for everying and that it is too easy. Please give me reasons why its fun and amazing. Idk how to explain it. :/
No offense, but your friend seems like a bit of a stuck up ****. :/ As many have said before, the combat in this game is simple to learn, but difficult to master. He's probably just not that good at the game.

there is no button mashing i used to do this back in the asylum at first and wondered why i could never sustain a combo more than 15 in actuality you have strike selectively and aim where you want to strike and try to antiscipate your enemies moves to either counter or evade perhaps even use a quick gadget. button mashing is for arcade games if you button mash in Batman you will never truly learn how to fight
