Arkham City & Combat sucks?

Okay, I do not think the combat sucks, its fun and amazing. But my friend says its absolutly nothing but button mashing and that it's sucks and that the entire game is stupid. (He doesn't like batman btw so he is somewhat biased) and I debate with him till' the end of time explaining that why it is a good game. I can accept the fact that it's just not a game for him but he litterally HATES this game. I have never been a good debater he on the other hand constantly owns me. Guys I need your help. It's getting annoying whenever I'm playing and he says " Button Mashing wow, how fun -__- " he even said the stealth is button mashing because you have a gadget for everying and that it is too easy. Please give me reasons why its fun and amazing. Idk how to explain it. :/

Some people regard it as 'meh' some others as 'fantastico!', i don't think your gonna be able to convince your friend it's a stellar title.
It's probably my favourite game ever made, it looks so good you get immersed instantly, and the chatter from the bad guys is really funny.
Once you learn the advanced moves (use cape stun to unlock the multi fist attack or the 'top down' one etc.) and unlock some of the combos and not least the way Batman interacts with the environment while in combat like using the walls to bounce enemies off etc.
On PC we have PhysX, this makes every fight scene unique.

I'm not telling him that he has to agree with me but he automatically thinks that if somebody gives it a good review that they don't even know what they are talking about. He loves gameinformer but when he saw that they gave it a 10/10 he automatically said it was a flawed review and didn't even bother reading it.

In my personal opinion, the combat system is good. It seems different in certain ways from Arkham Asylum - I feel like it's set up much more to make the player to feel powerful, as the enemies seem much less aggressive. Try a challenge where the enemies have access to guns: if somebody manages to get to a crate and grab a gun, it takes them forever to start shooting, making it much easier for you to get over and hit them. Even the guys with baseball bats or sledgehammers seem timid: they often hang at the back of a crowd, seemingly waiting for a chance to hit Batman which they never actually take.

The other main flaw, if you like, with the Freeflow system is that it's not set up for a one-on-one fight where the opponent's combat skill is similar to Batman's (or whoever's). Notice that the Ra's al Ghul fight in Arkham City found a way to spawn a crowd of enemies, and also made use of modified quick-time events when he was attacking Batman with his sword at close range. Beating up crowds of thugs is definitely iconic of Batman, but over the years he's had some equally memorable one-on-one fights with characters like Deathstroke, Prometheus, and Lady Shiva. Personally, if I were making an Arkham Three, I'd be putting a lot of effort into a way to let players experience that kind of fight.

Honestly, what game doesn't mash the **** outta buttons?

You have awesome games like Diablo 3, it's all just clicking and mashing your enemies with skill buttons, if your friend is assuming Batman AA/AC is all just button mashing in Combat.

The combat is seamlessly awesome, smooth and mainly timed if you know your stuff.
Everyone press of a button is a awesome attack after another, who wouldn't wanna mash the buttons? It makes you feel like a god xD. The animations are just spectacular, first time I played AC I couldn't believe how epic it was to hit one enemy after another, flying across to the next one just looks awesome.

He likes Halo 1-3,Battlefeild 3, The Elder Scrolls series, Mass Effect, Half-Life,Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, That is all I can think of at the moment.
