Game won't load Midgame

On my Xbox version AC, I have 100% the game and are currently under ground, however when I try to leave to sewers and I enter the subway, and error comes up with 'Disc cannot be read' forcing me to turn the game off. My disc is fairly well kept and I have games a lot worse that work fine, but I can't leave the sewers before the game freezes. It's not such a big deal as I bought AC again on ps3 and is 100% but still...

I suggest getting a new disk anyway you can. Same thing happened to me, some of my buddy said that if the disk is scratched in certain places, valuable data can be stripped from it. Happened to me with Battlefield: BC 2, it got scratch wouldn't work in certain areas of the game. So I bought a new disk of the game, and it worked fine with all my progress saved.
