"You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
Whenever I try to play Arkham City, I get to the main screen, get to the 'press start' prompt, and it prompts me to sign into my GFWL account. I do so, and it signs me then, then shows me this 'Confirm' screen saying I have not signed into a gamer profile... even though I just did. If I say yes to continue, it goes to the main menu, but as the screen says, I cannot save the game. If I say no, it prompts me to sign in again... I do so, it signs me in successfully... then once again says I'm not signed in. This happens even if I try using a local profile. I can even hit home while the screen saying I'm not signed in is showing, and see the GFWL overlay saying I'm signed in.
So basically, I cannot play the game unless I wanna try beating it start to finish in one sitting. Anyone familiar with this problem, got any solutions? Took some screenshots to help illustrate it: http://minus.com/mbqZ10T9Zo/5

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
I managed to get it working by creating an offline windows live account. Bit of a pain but at least it works now.
-
Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
Nice... tried doing an offline profile myself, but it still won't work
-
Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
same with me mrstu.
I have my copy of BAC regurarly purchased and activated on Steam;
I have a perfectly working Games for Windows Live account (using it on Microsoft Flight) Online;
I have a perfectly working GFWL account OFFLINE;
Neither of those works: in both case the game just tell me that I'm not logged to any account so I can't save etc etc;
and as mrstu I'm actually logged in. Identical embarassing situation.
You buy a game, it won't works. that's one of the reason sometimes I just think that piracy has it's own reason to exist (at least if the game won't work you know it before to buy it and you can save your money for some better games)....really p****d off this time.

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
I have the same issue. Nothing seems to work save or achievement wise. Played the game for 6 hours, none of my progress was saved and got no achievements unlocked in GFWL nor Steam. Game is pretty much unplayable as far as I'm concerned. I'm not about to one sit through it.

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
I'll post here the ridicolous email exchange with the wb support:
"Dear customer support,
unfortunately my regularely Steam purchased copy of BAC won't login in win LIVE with neither of my "games for windows live" account (nor the online nor the offline);
these accounts works perfectly with other games (such Microsoft Flight in example);
moreover if I go to the home of win LIVE my account is logged in (I'm online and it recognise that BAC is running), still the game tell me that I did not logged in and I can't save my progress.
Offline account does not work either .
What I should do? if you need purchase proof please email me back, I'll send you the steam transaction.
Hope to get an answer soon.
Best"
answer:
"Hi,
What happens when you try logging in to Games for Windows Live first then try to play Batman Arkham City? Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say?"
Again me:
"Dear cust. support,
Thanks for your quick response, unfortunately nothing happens: the GFWL regularly goes online, then the game run and says it can log in into my account.
through the ingame GFWL top bar I can see I'm actually logged in (this happens both with online and offline account, both recognize the game running);
the only message that I get is the "you're not logged in so you can't save etc. etc.".
I have to underline that the GFWL works pefectly with any other pc games, my router or firewall are not stopping anything, any other online games goes online smoothly and easily.
Hope to get answer soon.
Best"
second answer:
"Hi,
The problem seems to lie with GFWL not with the game as such. We'd, therefore, suggest that you contact GFWL support.
Kind regards,
Warner Brothers Support"
my third email:
"I appreciate your thought but if gfwl do a normal log in with any other game and shows no problem at all, I doubt that the problem is in the gfwl, still if you take a look on your support forum you'll notice many gamers experiencing the same disfunction. I will contact them but to be honest I do believe that is your software.
I'll get you back to you as gfwl support will give me an answer.
By now I've spent my money on your product, and it doesn't work. Not the best that you should expect from a major company like yours, then you ask why people go piracy?
Best"
third answer:
"Hi Stefano,
As Games for Windows Live is a Microsoft product, we are not able to support this, and as such we sometimes have to ask the customer to contact the manufacturer of another program.
However, please try and reinstall the Games for Windows Live client, to see if this changes anything.
Please let us know how you get on with this.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Best Regards,
Warner Brothers Technical Support"
my fourth email:
Dear Michael,
as expected GFWL support team refuse any kind of involvement since their platform is actually working (logging in) and say that seems to be your code that doesn't access to their in game platform; If needed I could send some screenshot to explain it, but in a few words:
- The GFWL Bar on top (in game) shows my online account perfectly available
-BAC keep on show the message of not logged to any account.
Any installation/reinstallation of GFWL doesn't change a thing (as expected) but before to try to remove and reinstall BAC I'd like to know if there is something to do that could actually make it works (I don't wanna waste any of the (frankly stupid), secuROM 5 granted installations)
Please let me know, the game is just fantastic and it's a shame that I could not play.
Best
Their last answer
"Hi,
You will need to contact Microsoft regarding this issue."
It's like talking to a wall... by the way Microsoft doesn't give support for third party games as clearly communicated on their support page for GFWL;
Maybe WB should be better informed of their partners policy or they just need to go bust.
Nice CRM really...take a paying customer and turn it into a promoter of piracy against any wb published games isn't exactly easy...

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
Update: (just to let you know what kind of support you could expect from WB...totally different in other software house /publishers)
their last answer after "you need to contact Microsoft" was:
Hello,
Is your Steam installation on the C: drive of your machine?
In order to assist us in troubleshooting, please send us the MSinfo file for the system experiencing the issue:
1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information.
2. Once system information has loaded click on File > Save and save the file onto your desktop and name it as msinfo.nfo.
3. Also click on File > Export and save the file as msinfo.txt.
4. Attach these files to your reply email.
PLEASE NOTE - If the size of your msinfo file is greater than 5MB, please compress the file. To do this, right click on the file, select send-to, then compressed Zip folder or compressed folder.
Please also provide us with a DXDiag file as per the following instructions:
1 - Go to the Start menu and click on Run (if there is no run option, press the Windows key+r together to bring up the run box)
2 - Type dxdiag in the box and click OK
3 - You may be asked to check if the drivers are "digitally signed", if this is the case answer YES.
4 - Once Dxdiag has loaded, click the Save All Information button at the bottom.
5 - Save the file to a place on your machine where you can easily locate it again.
6 - Attach the file to an e-mail and send this to us.

Jamie D
Warner Brothers game support.
Ok, I've done everyting and send the files; here's my fifth email:
Dear James,
my Steam installation is on another drive, move it on c: is not possible due to size;
please find attached the requested files.
Thanks
Then, a few days later (once you think "hey finally I've got to talk to someone with a head and ears on the sides) their last answer:
Hi,
Steam installs to the following folder by default:
C:Program FilesSteam
Files for games installed on Steam are stored in the following folder:
C:Program FilesSteamsteamapps
During the installation of Steam, you have the option to install Steam to a location other than the default. Since Steam relies on the game files residing in the SteamApps folder, your game files will go to whatever folder you have Steam installed in. The game files must be in the SteamApps folder in order to function.
Moving Your Steam Installation
Warning:
It is highly recommended that you create a backup of your SteamApps folder before attempting this process. Neglecting to do so may result in a loss of all of your game content should something go wrong.
If you're low on space on the drive you have Steam installed, you can move the Steam folder to a different location. Here's an example of how to move the Steam installation between two hard drives:
Log out and exit Steam
Navigate to the folder where Steam is installed (by default: C:Program FilesSteam)
Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe
Cut and paste your Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:GamesSteam
Launch Steam
Steam will briefly update and then you will be ready to play
All future game content will be downloaded to the new folder D:GamesSteamSteamapps

Wonderful, they just took some help text and paste into an email without even caring about if the text contain a solution, or if it answer to my previous email; here's my sixth one
Hi Mario,
thanks for this answer;
some points:
- I've moved my steam folder to a bigger drive to overcome the size availability problem on c: in the first place, more than a year ago (the instructions pasted in the email are everywhere in the internet); since then no problems with any steam game (nor new, nor already downloaded), BAC regularly run from steam.
- In your email there is nothing that could suggest that this could be a solution to the problem;
but I've moved my folder again, just to do something (obviously not on c: as I said in previous email, my system drive is too small to contain steam folder); the results was almost obvious: nothing change.
So,
what's next? another copy and paste instruction email?
Really, WB needs some digital CRM expert...I'm available for hiring if you need a professional.
Best
Bloody hell, if the customer support of the company I work for was made of such ignorant people and careless agents we should shut down the business a long time ago...did WB seriously use people? they act just like robots, no ability to understand, read or interpretate, just copy and paste from their manuals; and supervisors? apes? donkeys? when I think about how many people are without a job and how many idiots have one without a right...

Re: "You have not signed in to a Gamer Profile"
I am having the same problem. You have not signed into a gamer profile. Microsoft is unwilling to help because I have technically logged in. Haven't heard from WB support but I sure hope they see this as a common problem but it looks like it has been going on for a very very long time.
