    Memory Leak? Or Poor Optimization?

I've been having issues with running Batman Arkham City smoothly.
I purchased it on Gamersgate and patched it to patch 2 (newest?)

What happens is regardless of whether I set the settings to very high (but with dx9 and no PhysX) or the absolute lowest, the game starts out smooth then gradually becomes choppier and choppier over the course of around ten minutes.

Strangely this is most noticeable in more enclosed areas, like an area in the subway, and the area with the Mr. Freeze fight.

I will load into the game and get 50+ fps, then as I move around and do what I do, the game gets more and more sluggish, ending up closer to 20 fps or worse, which for me is unbearable.

I was able to run Arkham Asylum maxed, with PhysX medium, and this game seems to run well at first before bogging down.

I've tried as many things as I can think of to get it to run better, from turning off vsync and AA and instead forcing them in my Nvidia panel, to playing around with the .ini files, to using a 4GB patcher, to reinstalling.

So far I've reinstalled 4 or 5 times, deleting all config files in Documents between each reinstall
    (besides saved game)

So should I just wait for a patch before continuing to play? Because this lag is becoming unbearable.

Re: Memory Leak? Or Poor Optimization?

it uses around 1.1 - 1.3 gb of VRAM, at least on a 1080 display with settings maxed but no AA, nor blur, nor distortion, i've finally the game running nice but i've a gtx 580 overclocked to 870MHz (1.5 gb VRAM)and 2500k cpu overclocked to 4.5ghz.
Basically it a real hardware killer, but if it wasn't it wouldn't look so pretty, there's no real tweaks to get it running smooth, you gotta throw hardware at it, the bad performance you have will be the GPU giving RAM work to do that it would do itself if it had more VRAM, i'd recommend a GPU with at least 1.25 gb VRAM for this game, preferably more.
To tell you the truth they've introduced lag in the game but this can be disabled but only if your hardware can take it.

Re: Memory Leak? Or Poor Optimization?

I tried changing the above line you posted from True to False, but it didn't seem to make a difference, at least none I can notice.

The weird thing is, usually if it's a VRAM issue, lowering the textures will fix any problems, and low VRAM issues are usually stuttering and not lower framerate, unless using a particularly bad pc.

Also I play Skyrim with nearly maxed settings, with a few exceptions (lower view distance because of my weak processor,) but I use the high-res texture pack and run the game smoothly, with easily a constant 50+ fps.

It just seems weird how even running the game with everything as low as possible, so that the walls and floors look muddy as heck, it still struggles to run smoothly.

I've still forced myself to play and am at nearly 70% story progression, but I keep wishing I could play the game in it's full glory.
