i really have no idea why alot of people (at least seem to) think that Rocksteady is asking "how was the combat and predator stuff, in JUST the Riddler's Revenge?" (for those that don't know, the "Riddler's Revenge" in AC is the equivalent to the "Challenge Mode" in AA). Rocksteady's not limiting the "how was the Combat?" and "how was the Predator?" to JUST the Challenge Mode. they're asking "how was the Combat, in GENERAL? (ie. in the entire game)" and "how was the Predator, in GENERAL? (ie. in the entire game)"; not just the Challenge Mode.
this really bamboozles me, why people keep on limiting their answer to "how was the Combat in the Combat rooms of the Challenge Mode?" and "how was the Predator in the Predator rooms of the Challenge Mode?".
I see you copy/pasted what you had in the predator thread, 007. I'll paraphrase what I said earlier. More time spent in combat maps=more memories
Again late but wanted to share.
Very much like that it makes you feel like Batman. Good variety of enemies, responsive controls, everything is consistent. It isn't button mashing but for as simple as it is it isn't simple or easy.]What you liked.
I'm not sure if it is that the combat is improved or that I understood the concept better having this be a second go around with it. I'd have to say it just generally seemed more responsive and consistent than in asylum. The multiple attack counter was terrific. It added a button masher feel without being button mashing. What you think improved
All of it? I'd love for the combat challenge rooms to be like a PSN download title. I could have a couple of quick rounds without loading the whole disk off my XMB.What your favourite part of combat was
I don't so much that I didn't like it as I had the most difficulty with the armored thugs. Also there is a tendency for it to pick the wrong enemy on a move. Also occasional camera moves will have you going off in not the direction you thought or intended. The greatest sources of frustration were caused by those two things particularly when you end up going to an armored thug with something other than a cape or takedown. What you didn't like
I also didn't like the Bat swarm. I liked the area attack/clear area action (which I think is needed) of it but the instant bats doesn't really fit the overall tone.
See above. Camera difficulties and target prioritization. Also the knife takedown. A great addition but it felt inconsistent. You'd think you have it down and all of it sudden it would never work. What could be improved
Maybe some kind of low stance and moves out of it? Some kind of leg sweep moves. A lot time it wouldn't be so much about not knowing what to do but knowing that the available move was going to put me in a place where I wouldn't know what to do or generally just didn't want to be and I was just going to have to dodge till I was. I played on PS3 and additional moves off holding L2 would be I guess 'the next level.' A 'make space' move that was not a special would be good. What new features you would like to see
And of course "You know what this fight needs? MORE NINJAS!"
Better than Asylum. Came back just enough in difficulty or improved the system enough that it felt easier without making it 'too easy.' Good sweet spot on the difficulty again.Any Arkham Asylum/Arkham City comparisons
Overall this is my favorite part of the game. I'd love to see this combat system used for a "Lone Wolf and Cub" game where Ogami fights armies.
What you liked
The new combo moves (Takedowns, Disarms, etc)
What you think improved
Everything. The multiple counters, smoke pellets, knife disarming, cape stunning, all of it.
What your favourite part of combat was
The new takedown moves and disarming enemies.
What you didn't like
Maybe a few too many quickfire gadgets, I felt not all of them were needed in combat.
What could be improved
I move to attack / ground takedown someone (reasonable distance), but Batman just goes into a "stance" and breaks his combo streak
What new features you would like to see
No idea (bad thinker)
Any Arkham Asylum/Arkham City comparisons
The combat is more fluid, familiar, and it meant I could jump in from one game to the other and not need to learn a new move set.
One shudders to imagine what inhumane thoughts lie behind that mask. What dreams of chronic, Sustained, cruelty?!- The Spy on the Pyro.
