Re: Looking Back at Arkham City...COMBAT

I loved how Batman could flow across the map with ease.

I think the combat system as a whole improved, less choppy than Asylum. Especially the blade dodges. I think it's better, especially the blade dodge takedown.

My favorite part of combat was the new Lieutenant battles, and the better (I think) Titan battles.

I didn't like the takedowns some of the time.

On that note, I think a takedown should focus on the strongest enemy in the area (armored, ninja, etc.)

New Features? I can't think of any, but will be sure to post if I think of any
As I said above, the combat system flows more in City than Asylum, the new takedowns, blade dodges, etc are great.

Re: Looking Back at Arkham City...COMBAT

There are so many things I loved about Arkham City, that it is impossible for me to describe them all. I basically loved every single good thing about the game. I'm not exactly sure what I didn't like. I'm not 100 percent sure of what should be improved.

    • What you liked:
      - More combos.
      - Gadgets implemented into combat.
    • What you think improved:
      - Faster combat.
      - Blade counters/dodging.
      - The bosses were a great step up from the Asylum bosses. I liked the variety in the boss battles.
    • What your favourite part of combat was:
      - Throwing the Joker as Robin
    • What you didn't like:
      - Armoured thugs.
      - Ninjas.
      - Titans.
    • What could be improved:
      - Catwoman in general.
      - Stronger enemies prioritized for takedowns. E.g. Ninjas over Armoured enemies.
      - Boss battles. E.g. Penguin was too easy.
    • What new features you would like to see:
      - Environment damage.
    • Any Arkham Asylum/Arkham City comparisons:
      - Can't think of anything.

Re: Looking Back at Arkham City...COMBAT

I liked the beatdown move, the multiple counters, the new disarm move and the batclaw slam.
Overall the combat was improved with more animation and being able to smack enemies against a wall
and blade couters made the combat better then AA.
Wasn't a big fan of the ninjas and i hope we've seen the last of titans(another reason i don't like blockbuster in the future)
Maybe you guys could add an intimidate system to break a thug for information of he's crime organization and
in-air attacks for a man-bat battle but the biggest improve would be a grappling combat: like grappling a thug
and start giving him blows like in the stomach or an uppercut or maybe a knee...

What I liked: Knockdown smash during silent take down, Glide kick at high speed then when you hit an enemy you take out one or more guys i loved that!

What I think can be improved: Faster Combat, especially when you counter a villain, faster grapple gun even quicker than the grapple boast, Inverted take down off a gargoyle you should be able to pull up two thugs at once and do a knockdown smash in the air.

Favorite part of combat: Beat down move, disarm and destroy.

What i didn't like: Ninjas, and Titan thugs, the titan thugs you should be able to beat down like Mr. Hammer and Mr. Sickle.

What could be improved: Graphics, I want the most realistic - life like, graphics that Rocksteady can provide.

What new features i would like to see: More trees, and animals like at the zoo.

Arkham Asylum / Arkham City Comparisons: Story mode was about the same length, needs longer story mode for Arkham 3.

I suppose this doesn't just have to be about Bats. I loved the combat moves for the DLC characters, but I wish at least Robin and Nightwing had a disarm and destroy move. But I liked them nonetheless.

    What I liked:
    -Addition of the Beatdown
-The addition of Explosive gel in combat.
-Hitting people with a staff as Robin
-The ease of maintaining a combo.
-Addition of status effects in combat (stunned, frozen, shocked, etc)

    What I think improved:
    -General flow of combat
    -Use of Gadgets in combat.
-The encouragement to use other moves in combat by powering down the regular Strike move.

What my favourite part of combat was:
-Saving a twin for last and finishing him off in one fluid combo.

    What I didn't like:
-Titans. They didn't seem too much of an improvement from the first game.
-Removal of gun racks from all the Extreme challenge maps.
-Being unable to KO thugs using explosive gel during combat.
-Enemy selection for certain moves such as the Aerial Attack.

    What could be improved:
    -Catwoman's moveset and attack time.
-Enemy selection for certain attacks. Aerial Attack should not prioritize Armored thugs as a target.
-Titan Combat. Being unable to use Beatdown on them made combat with Titans seem slightly awkward.
-Blade Dodges could be sped up a bit.

What new features I would like to see:
    -A Ground Takedown Interrupt.

    Any Arkham Asylum/Arkham City comparisons:
    -Overall speed and difficulty increased.
    -Larger moveset.
    -Better quality of combat.
-Titan combat is still largely the same. They're moves are improved, but Batman's anti-Titan moves aren't.

Overall I think that the Freeflow Combat has about reached the pinnacle of its evolution. There is a significant amount of room for improvement, but as I see it there aren't many more new features to be added.

Batman: Arkham City is a great game. I'd like to congratulate Rocksteady again on winning the 2012 Best Action Game BAFTA Award. I look forward to seeing what the coming months will yield. Keep up the good work!

What you liked: Knockout smash, blade takedown, and the interaction with railing and other things in the environment.

What you think improved: The overall feel of the combat, the use of gadgets, and the new animations, no crazy guys that jump on your back!!! (they were annoyin' like you wouldn't believe )

Favorite part of combat: Beatdown, Lieutenant battles (hope to see more), and Blade takedown

What i didn't like: Guys with shields, and thugs with the electric sticks (you should be able to punch around it... just sayin')

What could be improved: Having voices that match the thugs' faces.

What new features i would like to see: Attack dogs, minor villains appearing as lieutenants (like Ragdoll or Great White Shark), and maybe more environment interaction.

Arkham Asylum / Arkham City Comparisons: Both are fantastic and revolutionary games, each are great in their own special way

    Amazing idea !
Dogs who protect a compound and if the alarm goes off they release them to capture batman and you need to
fight them with a quick time event move or a gadget !
Another reason a Falcone/Sionis mansion would work...
