I heard Games for Windows LIVE's certification process was awful, but I didn't know how awful . So all this time its been going through certification at Microsoft's end.
Why the Hell did you trust these people with your game and your companies now shredded reputation for stable products?! Why did your company not listen to its community and dump GFWL like the Leech it is.
You guys used a better service for the Steam version why? Because the community demanded it and it was expected of a AAA game. Now finish the work and never release another GFWL enabled product again. The smear it leaves on the games cover is aggravating that such a great game would use such a Poor Service.
I just really hope that the reason behind delaying the patch was that Rocksteady wanted to make sure that this one will accomplish what the first one couldn't and fix these issues once and for all, resulting in a polished experience. Also I really think PC users deserve some kind of compensation after all this which also can be a good way to bring them back to the game. Nvidia released a really strong driver package last week so let's keep our fingers crossed that this patch will be just as good.
The funny thing is that when I bought the game on release day I made a choice between Arkham City and Assassin's Creed Revelations and as a huge Batman and Assassin's Creed fan it was pretty hard to decide on simple preference. I went with Arkham City because I thought ACR will be a rushed product developed only in one year and that it will have serious issues (like that they keep the broken mouse controls from AC2 and Brotherhood). Last week I bought Revelations, patched it up and it looks beautiful (Brotherhood was a very pretty game, but this one has much sharper textures), runs like a charm, I get steady 60 fps and the mouse is as responsive as it was in AC1, and Ubisoft still supports and improves the game. After the things I went through with Arkham City it was really surreal to see that the game just installed and worked wonderfully. Overall I still consider Arkham City a better game but I had a much smoother and because of this a more memorable experience with Assassin's Creed Revelations (on a financial note Ubi sold more than 7 million copies of ACR so maybe there are other things to learn from there).
This proves to me that technical issues can really ruin an otherwise fantastic experience and their absence can make a less excpetional, not as original product shine brighter. So far Ubisoft scores 1 for me, Rocksteady has the ball, we'll see if they can get the advantage.

OMFG!!! I've forgotten to read the first post so many times now, it was like...I don't know.. Freakin' hilarious!! You, sir, have missed your calling (I have no idea what you do for a living). Have you been published yet?
I was going to multi-quote the whole thing, but well, just some comments instead:
The part about being tired after coming back from vacation: actually, truer than you might think, if you haven't vacationed with my brats, er, family..
The Wednesday of Truth: so many hidden meanings in that one statement, I sir, call you out for the blatant double-entendric basterd you are!
..an upper limit on our suffering..: Priceless!
"Some philosophic thoughts: If an update gets released while the rep is on holiday and no one hears about it, does it still get released?": I gave up at this point, trying to hold in the guffaws. Too funny.
(Keep it up! You give me inspiration, KIO. I'm back in the mood for more RS/WB/PR/CR-bashing..ding! ding! Round two..)
Harley Quinn can Death Taunt me anytime she likes, so long as she shuts the door on her way out in the morning...
I'm glad to see SarahMay posting again. The March patch release might unfortunately, require another 2 or 3 week holiday.
With patch #2, I can now finally play an unbroken Batman Arkham City.
*bows in the spotlight* Thank you, thank you!
It was a bit sad writing that diary of nothingness as is, so I started entertaining myself, got a bit carried away.
I am actually a teacher, well, wanting to be one, I am a personal tutor so far.
People tend to give up on me with my jokes, it is nice to see them being appreciated.
I am quite proud on the "tree in the woods" one myself
I will see you tomorrow usual place, usual time. Bai
DRM limitations are a punishment for the paying customer and an encouragement to seek better service elsewhere...
And then they complain about piracy.
I won't be surprised when the patch is finally released that it doesn't even work.
