Stuttering Cutscenes (and Nvidia logo) PLEASE MAKE IT STICKY!

    Hello everyone,
as you have read from the title, I (too) have problems with stuttering cutscenes while the actual gameplay is smooth even in wide areas and big fights..
I know some of you fixed it somehow and I would like you guys to post your solutions in this thread to make them available for everyone...I tried looking it up in the forums and yes, it's full of this-one-like threads but the forum is overflooded and they just keep ending at the bottom of it..

So I kneel down and ask again; make it STICKY so the devs notice this is a big issue (maybe bigger than the dx11 issue they are trying to fix so bad since we can't play at all like this...)

I run the game on a Dual Core 2.66ghz and a RADEON HD 5570 - not the best around but again, the game is smooth, cutscenes are horrific..

Forgive me if my english is not perfect and start posting your potential solutions, please

EDIT : The new official patch didn't fix this...did it? I couldn't try it yet..

Having the same problem....sadly the recent patch didn't fix it.

I am voting for a sticky as well, as a lot of people seem to have the problem...actually most of the guys who don't have a brand new i5 or i7 or sth similar.

    My specs are

    Core2Quad Q6600 @ 3ghz
    HD4870 X2

Also not the newest pieces of hardware, but seriously...the game itself runs perfectly smooth in 1680*1050 with most of the settings on max, obviously due to the graphicscard with dx11 features not turned on. How the hell can it have a problem with mid-quality prerendered cutscenes?!
Its such a bummer not being able to play the game, just because the cutscenes are running ******.

Exactly...it's a GPU usage issue so I have read...Shouldn't be too hard for the devs to fix it...or for some user with programming skills..

Unfortunately the patch didn't fix the sound stuttering cutscenes, ROCKSTEADY should pay more attention to the forum because i knew this would happen. They released a patch only for dx11 related issues and now we have to wait and hope they release another patch to fix the cutscenes.

Thankyou for bringing this to our attention, we are looking into this. If there is any additional information you can provide about your PC/experience that would be a great help.

SarahMay first off thank you for answering and posting in the forum, its nice to see you are all trying to fix these problems with the game. Now a lot of users here have the exact same problem with sound stuttering in the video cutscenes. The gameplay and the cutscenes using the in game graphics engine for many of us are fine there is no sound stuttering there, from my personal experience with the game. However there is massive sound stutter in the intro logos especially the nvidia one and all of the other FMV videos in the game.Thats extremely weird because like i said the gameplay is fine and the video cutscenes shouldn't have such a problem because they are just another video format... like a playing a movie which doesnt require that much cpu or gpu acceleration.

According to comments I have read in these forums and elsewhere, the problem appears to be one of simply not switching on ScaleForm GPU acceleration (at least in DX9 mode).

When I first installed the game I set it to run on just 2 cores of my processor as I'd read that the game wasn't CPU intensive. First thing I noticed though was terrible performance in the cutscenes. So I enabled my other cores and the cutscenes improved a lot. Seems from what I've heard that this issue is tied to how powerful your processor is, especially for those guys running an older CPU. I myself have a C2Q running at 3ghz.

Seems odd that cutscenes would require so much CPU power.

First, thank you Frelorn and Sarah May for helping us with our issues.

This is where my research has led me on the matter:

The stuttering issue with the cutscenes seems to arise from the fact that the cutscenes are rendered in scaleform (.usm files), and they use CPU (computer processor) rather than GPU (graphics card processor).

This seems to be the reason why people can play the game (because it uses GPU from their graphics card) but they have issues with the cutscenes (because they cause such intense CPU use that only the most modern and powerful processors can play them without glitch / stuttering).

I can confirm that the cutscenes are less glitchy when closing as many win7 CPU-hogging features such as 'Windows Search' and even 'Windows Aero themes'. Furthermore, the cutscenes get less glitchy when setting the priority of BatmanAC.exe to 'high' in 'Windows Task Manager'.

Anyway, I hope this helps... (sad bad flaps its wings and flies away crying...)
